It was THE WORSE weather conditions since I started my riding streak. A major storm hit Northern California and I was determined to not take the car and ride it out. I have to say I used a lot of my past riding experience in that short 1.5 hour trip to work. I also gained some 10 fold.
A lot of accidents on the freeways as well as surface streets. Cagers were crunching it everywhere. I had to keep a close eye around me at all times. I’m not sure I would purposely ride a storm again in the future after experiencing this one.
By the way I should mentioned I completed my streak of 1 year riding to work on a motorcycle. I still haven’t driven the cage to work. I’m thinking of a new goal of 2 years. Well see…
Bugs getting waiting for J-Lo time! We had dinner at the Grill, a restaurant located in the HP Pavilion complex. It was real nice since you ate and relaxed and different have to wait in line.
As expected on Labor Day the only carwash places that are open are the ones you sit in. I took Lorraine’s car to get washed earlier this morning. It took close to an hour to get through the lines.
It was another wet and cold ride this morning. I’ve been riding to work for over 4 months now. I’ve ridden in all conditions from sub-freezing 22 degrees to the stormy wet rainy weeks. So far, of all the winter conditions fog is the one I least like to ride in. Something about riding down the freeway only being able to see a few car lengths ahead and a fogged up helmet.
It will be interesting to see how the summer brings its climate offerings.
Bugs and I took off this morning to check out the annual asparagus festival they hold in downtown Stockton. We drove through town looking for the “biker alley” an area usually reserved for motorcycles. We didn’t find it.
So we drove around the event site and it looked pretty much the same as it has been the past few years. We continued on driving…
Something about the new location doesn’t seem right. I think I like the old location off of 8 mile road and about 1 mile from the house. The area was much more green with trees and had the outdoor festival atmosphere. The current location is right smack in downtown, though the river port adds a nice touch.
Another blogging software change, hopefully this is the last… Just to make this entry semi-interesting I’ll include a photo of my GPS top speed value on my way to work. I guess sometimes I like to blast on the freeway, one day I’ll grow up.
It looks like I’ll be riding my motorcycle a lot this year. At least for the first 6 months. I let Mallory take my car to New Orleans to pursue her goal with Americorps. This after her car broke down in New Mexico…
