My parts I ordered from Clark’s Corvair came in. I’ve been waiting for rubber bushing and plastic insert that connects the throttle valve linkage to the power glide accelerator cable. The O-ring that goes in between the transmission pan and cable had arrived a week earlier.
I also ordered a replacement speedometer. Upon inspection of the existing cable I found the actual cable inside the sheath was missing. Someone had pulled it out completely and reconnected the end.
Replacing the old cable was an easy task since I had all four wheels off the ground elevated high enough for me to work under comfortably and clearly able to see what I need to do.
The ignition coil looked like it was the original part that came with the Corvair. I’ve had issues after riding around for awhile and getting the motor warm. The coil mounting bracket bolted close to the # 1 cylinder and the transfer of heat from the cylinder to coil bracket may have broken down the coil resistance throughout the years and effecting the spark.
In a nutshell this produced an idle that was erratic and sometimes running at low RPM’s.
The worse thing that can happen beyond your control is a fire caused by some jackass performing a burn pile and losing control of it.
This was my view coming over Pardee Dam Road. Not a good sight to see knowing it’s the same direction as home.
We got lucky as night came, the fire started heading East and the firemen on the ground kept it from going over the hill towards Valley Springs town area. During the day the air support both helicopter and airplanes created a fire retardant line that stopped the forward motion. If this was a windy day it could have gotten ugly really fast.
I picked up another piece of hardware gear, a Zoom H6. I was originally looking at the Zoom H4N but I was checking out the local Craigslist and stumbled on the H6 model at a very good price.
I’ve been messing around with remote toys ever since I was kid. The most reason was the DJI Phantom series drone that I had to completely modify for longer flight times and further range. I grew tired of that hobby and that was the end of remote toys.
Hello RC cars! I’m looking to mess around with these things but mostly to get into building up a track and obstacle course to screw around in.
We have a perfect spot in the west side of the property. The grounds are flat enough to do some track racing and other sections toward the back can be used for 4-wheeling along the rocks and dirt hills.
When I first started commuting the Ione road from Jackson Highway 16 was periodically closed and I had to head towards Jackson for another turn off towards Ione.
It looks like I’ll be doing that again since the road is closed again for a few days at Mission Bar Rd due to railroad work. Bitches.
The detour roads are so messed up I’m not going to take them anymore. I’ll be going the long way around and saving the rubber on my tires and giving my suspension a break. It’s so freakin’ bad the traction alarm come on in certain areas.
I saw this motor at a local estate sale. It was the last day so everything on the property was half off. I could have bought the entire motor for $100 bucks.
I didn’t.
Sometimes things are better left alone. I’d lug that sucker all the way home only to look at it for the following years taking up space.
I got a couple Corvair parts in. This order came from Clark’s which is back East.
The speedometer never worked and after checking it out the center cable inside the sleeve wasn’t even installed. It must have snapped at some point and tossed into a box of parts that came with the Corvair.
The title is sort of deceiving, it indicates that this is a Sunday type of dessert while the reality is I’ve been eating one like this the 4 nights. Each night it gets even better!
Wifey and I took took the 64’ Ragtop out for an after dinner evening cruise. It’s a totally a different vibe then driving the corvette around. It’s perfect for a short not in a hurry type of cruise.
