Using X100s with strobes…

I experimented using my Fuji X100S with a pair of Canon strobes. I used Paul C. Buff wireless for triggering. One very nice feature of the X100S is the ability to use high shutter speeds due to the leaf shutters. One of the strobes was obviously used to light up the Roadglide and the 2nd strobe was placed inside of the Porsche’s drivers seat. This gave the photo more than one highlight.

New versus old…

I used my new to me Fuji X100S camera for this particular shot. I’ve been messing with the focusing interface such as “split” or “highlight” screen. This camera is starting to grow on me especially when using it under controlled conditions. I’m sure it can be used for spontaneous situations too I just haven’t had the chance to try it out.

I’m not using the macro feature of the camera. This is a straight photo in manual focus.

Going through I-10 Texas…

I have to say the longest stretch of road I’ve ridden on car or motorcycle has to be I-10 going through Texas. It seems it goes on forever. I can see why a lot of travelers prefer taking the I-40 route as it is much more scenic and the there are plenty of towns that are geared more towards the “tourist” and sight seeing.

There are major cities along the way and that means Harley Davidson dealerships. Needless to say we’ve visited a bunch of them across this great country.

That time again…

We are back in New Orleans for the 4th of July holiday. Even though we don’t hangout at the French Quarters anymore we still are able to get our beignets fixings down the street at the Morning Call Cafe. This establishment is located in the center area of City Park, New Orleans. The beignets are as good or better than the famous Cafe De Monde at the FQ.

Being that it is a holiday I was surprised it wasn’t so packed. Maybe we came later and missed the morning rush. They are open 24 hours a day except on Christmas.

Jailbreak 8.3

I performed the latest Taig 8.3 Jailbreak and and the following later they released the 8.4 version. Since I don’t plan on taking advantage of the Beats music service I will stay with the version I’m running. All seems stable enough since I removed IntelescreenX. That particular app tweaked bricked my iPhone twice before I narrowed down the offending app.

Bony’s BBQ…

We went and checked out this BBQ joint just around the corner from the hotel we’re staying at.

The food was really good and the setting was just right. I think this place caters more to the downtown lunch time crowd as there wasn’t too many evening patrons. The place did have the perfect setting for the nightclub scene since it had a bar that ran the length of the floor. I asked the waitress serving us if it was a club during the night and she replied at one point it used to be with the previous owners but not anymore.

Any Southern style BBQ is not complete without having a generous serving of cornbread. I ordered three extra pieces that my wifey snagged and coated with honey and butter.

I have to give props on the BBQ chicken it was probably one of the tastiest I’ve ever eaten. When I do travel to the Southern states I rarely order BBQ chicken if fried chicken is part of the menu. If it’s a chain type of restaurant I may pass on the chicken dishes anyway as I’ve eaten at most of them.
